Someone is missing...
So, March is almost over. Thank goodness! 2 weeks ago, I taught a week long class in Northville Michigan at Hillside Middle School about comics. It went well, great group of kids! I forgot to bring my camera along, but they have a wonderful teacher (Iain Burrell) and art room up there. Last week, I worked on a commission piece that was all to familiar...a nice lady like my Last Mupper so much that she wanted to buy the original....sadly, that sold at Wizard World Chicago last year...so she commissioned me to paint it again...but to leave out Jim Henson under the table. It was fun to repaint something for once. It was easy and theraputic, and got me back into the swing of making art again. I am currently working on another painting...should be done at some point this week. I'll of course post it when it is complete.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the opening of the 4th comic art show at EMU. This time, the show focuses purely on Michigan based comic artists. It is called, "Michigan Comics: Mirth, Mockary, and Mayhem from the Tri-Coastal State". I have 4 pieces in the show, and know quite a few of the other artists too. The opening is from 5-7pm, and from 7-8:30 there is a panel discussion with a few of the artists...for directions to the student center click here.
Attention to all of my Knoxville friends. Comic convention season is coming up! Adventure Con runs from June 12-14th, and they were gracious enough to give me a free table! So I hope you can all come and see me! As for other conventions, I plan on attending Motor City Comic Con, Wizard World Chicago, and Fan Expo Canada. A few other conventions are on the maybe list...but I am getting married this summer, and I don't want to drive myself too crazy.
